Winter Fun at Winter Park
Bring out the heavy coats, the thermal undies, the snug scarves, beanies, and gloves: winter is coming back in full swing in Colorado, which means all kinds of snow and ice to cover the world like a white, fluffy blanket. Sure, the weather is less than ideal for road travel unless you equip chains on your tires and carry a snow scraper at all times, nor is it the most comfortable due to the vicious cold and biting winds, but there are so many fun possibilities involved with the season. Alexan West Highland understands all too well the fun you can have at winter, and one of the greatest scenic ski resorts, Winter Park, is just a short hour travel away.
Winter Park is a large ski resort settled in the Rocky Mountains, approximately an hour and a half drive away from the city of Denver. One of the longest running and most popular ski resorts in the state, there’s a little something for everyone to enjoy. The six mountain slopes offer a wide arrange of trails, chair lifts, and paths, ranging from bunny slopes for those just breaking in their new ski or snowboard rentals to extreme adrenaline runs that only experts that have been skiing or snowboarding for years can handle. Skiing lessons are complimentary, and emergency services are promptly available in the unlikely event of a wipeout.
Even if you’d rather not ski, the resort and nearby village offers many fun filled activities for the whole family to enjoy, such as free ice skating and lessons, broomball and hockey, dog and horse sleigh rides, inner tubing down four fun-filled paths, and much more. The scenic village is beautiful and perfect for taking family photos together, shopping for souvenirs, or finding a cozy and comfortable lodge to stay in and keep warm by a fire. Various themed events run throughout the winter season, including holiday lighting ceremonies to light up the resort, cooking competitions, and so much more. The resort opens for the winter on November 16th and will stay open until April 23rd of next year.
Don’t hole yourself in your home this winter; dare to make the best of all the ice and snow. Visit Winter Park resort this season, and then move to Alexan West Highland Apartments this following spring to stay close to the action all year around.
